Grand Rapids, MI – The Grand Rapids Public Museum (GRPM) announced today the honorees for the 8th Annual Jay and Betty Van Andel Legacy Awards Gala. These awards, given at the GRPM’s annual fundraiser, recognize individuals for positive impact in the community through their dedication and commitment to bettering the quality of life in the region. Recipients are chosen based on criteria of community leadership and character.
The awards will formally be given to the recipients at the GRPM’s Legacy Awards Gala on Thursday, November 10, 2016. Tickets may be purchased by calling 616.929.1754 or by visiting www.grpm.org.
This year the Jay and Betty Van Andel Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to John C. Kennedy. This award is presented to individuals who demonstrate a lifetime of dedication to our community in the philanthropic spirit of Jay and Betty Van Andel.
The Museum recognizes their unwavering commitment to developing educational experiences and inspiring others to action.
This year’s Dave and Carol Van Andel Leadership Award will go to Lyman Parks, Jr. This award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated a commitment and passion for the greater West Michigan region. These honorees provide insightful guidance and support of numerous philanthropic organizations, contributing to the cultural, educational and economic health of our community.
“The Casey” Award will be presented to both Dave Engbers and Mike Stevens. “The Casey” Award is named after one of the Museum’s most dynamic volunteers, Casey Wondergem. This award is presented in his memory to younger members of the greater West Michigan region in recognition of their action, involvement and courage in creating or furthering a cause of importance and benefit to the community. This award highlights public service and serves to inspire and encourage continued charitable activity.
The 2016 Jay and Betty Van Andel Legacy Awards Gala is co-chaired by Dave & Carol Van Andel and Jim & Sue Williams.
