The Grand Rapids Public Museum will partner this May with Brewery Vivant to allow visitors to sip beer, eat cheese and explore the museum. The partnership will host a Beer Explorers class that will teach how to pair beers with variety of cheeses at the museum.
The class takes place May 11. When participants leave the class, they will know what combination of beer and cheese they like.
Although most people will put wine with cheese, traditionally, beer is paired with cheese. Because both come from the farm, beers go well with a number of cheese flavors. The combination will tantalize the taste buds.
The museum has opened the class to 40 participants who will discover information about their sense of taste and the combinations that appeal to them. The class will be led by Brewery Vivant’s Wandering Monk and Certified Cicerone, Ryan Engemann. Class begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held on the first floor of the museum. Admission to class includes three beer and cheese samples plus museum admission for the first two floors. A cash bar also will be available.
Tickets for the event are $8 for members and $18 for non-members. Participants must be 21 and older. Tickets can be purchased at grpm.org
