French Fries are a staple around the world and every culture has their version of this food. Whether it be the way it is cut, seasoned, fried, the thickness or size. Grand Rapids, Michigan boasts a wide variety of different restaurants, most which has their own specialty french fry.

Here are the top French Fries in West Michigan

5 Lakes Fries
5 Lakes Brewery
1638 142nd Ave, Dorr, MI

The french fries at 5 Lakes Brewery are a thicker cut fry, which are beer battered. They are fried until they are crispy and golden in color. After they are fried, they are tossed in a house made seasoning. The mix of salt and pepper is just right and they pair well with the food and beer. You can get them as a side to burgers and sandwiches, or as a full order.

Crack Fries
HopCat | 25 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI

Crack Fries have become famous in the city of Grand Rapids and beyond. They are also battered in beer before being fried and are peppered with black pepper seasoning, which makes them VERY addicting. You can even order additional toppings for these fries to make them even more indulgent.

Waffle-Cut Fries
The Cottage Bar | 18 La Grave Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI

These fries are different from the others on this list because of the way they are cut. Waffle Fries are cut in a criss cross fashion, which makes eating them fun and make them perfect for dipping. The Cottage Bar beer batters their fries and seasons them lightly, to bring out the best flavor to be in the potato and the beer batter. Another interesting fact is that The Cottage prepares all of their fried foods in zero trans fat oils.

Chronic Fries
Stella’s Lounge | 53 Commerce Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI

These fries are seriously CHRONIC! If you like your fries with a nice tingle and bite, chronic fries at Stella’s are right up your alley! Although, Stella’s keeps their seasoning a secret, you can taste flavor, the classic saltiness you would expect in a fry, and just the right amount of heat. You can add even more heat by ordering a spicy queso cheese sauce to dip or dunk your fries in.

Truffle Fries
The Toasted Pickle | 112 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI

The fries are more on the classy side at the Toasted Pickle in Grand Haven, MI. The french fries are battered and fried to a crisp, then tossed in truffle oil. They then top them with shredded Parmesan cheese and they are served with a Pimento Cheese Spread or to kick it up a notch, a Kickin’ Pickle Sauce. Very unique and another example of how french fries, while universal, can have infinite possibilities when it comes to making and serving them.
