Fiery Mexican flicks are on must watch list of every avid movie buff. Here is my handpicked list of the top 3 Oscar nominated Mexican films of all time.
#3. Elvira – The tagline for this drama is – “I will give you my life but I’m using it.” This tragic comedy starring Cecilia Suarez has been well received by fans and critics alike. The script has a lot of inconsistencies which is a downside but it is still a good watch with some drama, action and comedy sprinkled in for good measure.
#2. Eddie Reynolds and the Angels of Steel – This movie was masterfully directed by the renowned director Gustavo Moheno. It was perhaps the most watched movie when it was first released. An unusual plot where a metal band reunites as Bono, from U2, is interested in their music. Its about second chances and dreams coming true for musicians. One of my favourites as it is heart-warming and inspiring with a few good laughs as well.
#1. One for the Road – This is one the most popular Mexican comedies released recently. It shows us the hilarious adventures of 3 seniors who set out on a trip as the last wish of their beloved friend on death bed. It is full of laughs and has been applauded by critics.
