Interview with HairStylist Mirelis Roque

From La Habana, Cuba

FarándulaMag: How did you get your start in the world of hair styling?
Mirelis: I never imagined that I was gonna be a hair stylist, even though there are several people in my family involved in this business.
I was always doing other types of businesses. A few years ago one of my businesses got shut down and a friend pushed me to go to beauty school.

FarándulaMag: What advice would you give to people who want to be hair stylists?
Mirelis: Michigan is very competitive in this industry, it is important to study and practice. The good thing about this business is that there is no recession, there will always be an opportunity and work for everyone; people need a haircut.

FarándulaMag: What celebrity hair stylist do you admire?
Mirelis: I love going to beauty shows, and I have met many celebrities, and I admire a lot of them especially Martin Parsons, a great stylist who has been in this industry for several years.

FarándulaMag: Is there a skill you must have to enter this career?
Mirelis: Yes, and I think the most important thing is to do it with love. If you do not like it and you are only doing it for money, then don’t have a future.
