From Greece to Michigan, Olga Loizon has brought her culture and legacy to a restaurant perspective starting in the 60’s to present day.
First discovering Souvalki, which is a traditional Greek pita sandwich that has meat, typically lamb, and vegetables, Olga found a vertical rotisserie for making these sandwiches for herself.

Once home in Michigan, Olga perfected her pita bread recipe to make it taste better than any one of the sandwiches she had tasted abroad. This took her two years to do so, but it is the same recipe that you taste today in any Olga’s location.

When 1970 rolled around, Olga found an old wooden shoe store that was for sale in Birmingham, Michigan. The space was not very big, however, she made it work for her very first Olga’s location.

Today, there are 25 locations, in Michigan and one in Illinois. It’s easy to see why these restaurants are thriving, with their wonderful menu that has a taste everyone can enjoy.
The three dishes that were tasted were Olga’s signature menu items. First was the Classic Olga’s Snackers. These are pita chips that are fried and seasoned, and are served with Swiss almond cheese. The Snackers will have you munching away and reaching for another quickly.
The second dish was the Peasant Soup, which was a vegetable and meat soup in a tomato broth. The soup was choked full of vegetables and meat, which made it hearty and the herbs gave this soup an all around great flavor. Ordering the cup makes you wish you had ordered the bowl.
Finally, The Original Olga is what raised the flavor roof. The combination of seasoned beef and lamb, sweet onion, tomato, and Olgasauce all wrapped up in soft pita bread pleases your taste buds wildly. What’s even better is that you can have your Olga served with garlic powder and cayenne pepper on the side to add to your liking. A pinch, a dash, or a lot, you’ll be happy you did.
Olga’s is a great place to bring people together with taste and to experience flavors the Olga’s way.
