St. Cecilia Music Center Brings Grammy-winning Singer, Songwriter, Banjo & Fiddle Performer Rhiannon Giddens Back to Grand Rapids on May 17, 2018

Rhiannon Giddens, co-founder of the GRAMMY award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, will make her return to Grand Rapids on May 17, 2018appearing at St. Cecilia Music Center at 7:30 p.m. Giddens performed at SCMC in April 2015 to a sold-out audience who marveled at her amazing voice, musical talent and charisma on stage. Her return will highlight her newest album “Freedom Highway” that was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2017 Americana Music Honors & Awards. Giddens also received the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Singer of the Year and has won the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Bluegrass and Banjo in 2016. Her performances masterfully blend American musical genres like gospel, jazz, blues, and country, showcasing her extraordinary emotional range and dazzling vocal prowess.
