Mexican music has always been diverse and features a wide range of performance styles and musical genres and highly influenced by a variety of cultures that are seen across Mexico. Over the period of time, Mexican music scene has changed considerably as new artists and performers have come up with their own version. Gerardo Ortiz became a regional Mexican musical star when he arrived at the music scene in 2011 with four top selling albums that took the Mexican music genre by storm. In 2010, he garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Norteno Album for his debut album Ni Hoy Ni Manana. By 2013, he had already won four Mexican Billboard Music Awards.
The Fourth Annual Latin Music Concert is all set for the year 2016 and the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention Arena Authority’s (CAA) Community Inclusion Group (CIG) is excited to bring Gerardo Ortiz to perform at the event. The group is a seven-member board that administers DeVos Place, DeVos Performance Hall, and Van Andel Arena. The group encourages economic development within the West Michigan region and help people by creating job opportunities, providing entertainment facilities and benefiting the citizens through entertainment, convention and sports facilities. The group also fosters competitiveness and unique talent and perspectives of various individuals and serving the community.
Gerardo Ortiz has been known for his romantic ballads and unique style of corridos and will bring up some of his best songs and music to the event. The Fourth Annual Latin Music Concert will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in DeVos Performance Hall. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the El Informador Celebration of Education and the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan’s Project H.O.P.E. The VIP tickets will include the first three rows, a pre-event reception with light appetizers, cash bar, and parking below DeVos Place.

Meet Lynne Ike and Darius Quinn they are both active with the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority’s Community Inclusion Group (CIG), which strives to bring diverse entertainment to Van Andel Arena, DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall. They work with various West Michigan communities to raise awareness of events and to create a welcoming atmosphere at the venues, as well as at other businesses downtown.
