Meet Dj Monica Parker

In the last few years, many DJs have emerged in Grand Rapids that have dominated the local music scene. While we had a list of 25 prominent DJs that were nominated by the public and other djs, we selected 17 of those names for a poll which would decide the most popular DJ in Grand Rapids. The poll allowed people to vote for their favorite DJ and the winner was DJ Monica Parker.

Monica Parker started her DJing career 15 years ago in Battle Creek where she used to work at a bar running karaoke. However, the bar needed a DJ and she quickly grabbed the opportunity. Back then, she had no clue about DJing, but her friends helped her out with ideas she could use to play the music. On her return to Grand Rapids, she visited Rumors Bar, located in the heart of the city and bumped into a friend who happened to be the bar owner searching for a DJ. Monica Parker decided to take this opportunity and return to Grand Rapids where she originally belonged. She moved to Grand Rapids in 2006 and played for Rumors only until 2013. Later she started to do radio and playing at other venues. She also has future plans to go national, do her own mixing, become a producer and perform at bigger events to get more exposure.
